It’s August and the dogs days of summer are here. This month is usually the epitome of summertime with hot and hazy days on repeat. New York City makes sure that people enjoy their summer to the fullest. This Saturday kicks off Summer Streets, a free New York City summer activity that shuts down seven miles of New York City streets. Instead of bustling traffic, there are activities lined up and down Park Avenue for all to enjoy, FOR FREE!
Whether you’re running, walking, or bike-riding your way up and down park Avenue, Summer Streets is a really cool way to spend a Saturday in New York City. From Pop -up ‘Food Sessions’ Art Installations to giant water slides, there is so much to see and do on the route. Sponsors like Honest Tea, Nature’s Path, and Vita Coco will be along the route handing out samples of healthy and delicious snacks as you pass by. There will be booths and stations with all kinds of healthy information that is on target for living a healthy life. If walking is not your thing, you can zipline your way 30 feet above the streets of New York City.
There is so much to do and so much to see during Summer Streets that you’ll want to come out and kick it every weekend. It’s on starting this Saturday 8/5 and then continues 8/12, and 8/19.
