It is important to empower our youth to be the best they can be. They are our future and keeping them motivated to do great things is key. In this day and age there is so much negativity around that a positive influence is always welcomed. Reebok Classic recently teamed up with Kendrick Lamar to inspire and empower the youth via a series of programs. These programs will give young people a positive alternative to the negative influences they may be tempted with on the streets.
Kendrick is definitely a role model to a lot of young people as they are fans of his music. Coming off the streets of Compton, he knows first hand some of the dangers and temptations that young people face. “Reebok has a history of helping kids in the community realize their potential is limitless. I saw what the brand was doing, and I wanted to be a part of it and make it even stronger. It’s as simple as that. Kids that listen to my music are looking for inspiration. It’s important that I continue that message in anything I represent,” said Lamar.
The partnership will include a short film that highlights Kendrick’s hometown of Compton, CA and the kids growing up in the area today. The visual will take us through Compton via some of the places that have a special meaning to Kendrick’s life. On January 15th, Reebok will preview the Ventilator shoe for which will drop in March ’15. After the kicks drop, Kendrick will unveil his own personal limited edition capsule collection for the Fall/Winter 2015 season which will include exclusive signature Ventilator styles. Kendrick knows all about Reebok style as he used to rock a white tee, Jabo Jeans, and Reebok Classics as a youngin’. He still keeps his style fresh with either a pair of Reebok Ventilators or Classic Nylon kicks. Kendrick admits, “My style is simple, but with an edge – and it’s as classic as that,” said Lamar.
